i am pretty
Not really sure why I'm actually doing this but, hey, I'm Ben. Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona and lived there all my live until recently. Decided it was a good idea to get out and see some of the world that wasn't desert, yeah? Sure thing. I move around a lot now. Didn't finish school even though I only had a year and half left, but what can you do. The parents weren't all that thrilled that I went off to go and "find myself", but I'm sure they're over it by now. Maybe. Hell if I know.

Plus, there's this thing where I'm a freak who starts fires by getting pissed off and hitting walls, snapping my fingers, or hey just holding up my hand and thinking it. I'm getting used to it, but it takes a while. Talk to my last steady landlord and he'll back me up on that. The reason I stay on the go is to keep out of sight from the son of a bitch guy who took me for two days and left me with no memory of what happened. All I got to show from it was the nice tat on my neck that sucks as far as tattoos go. I didn't even get a damn t-shirt.

So, yeah. Here I am in Los Angeles for now. Might stay here for a while, check things out. Could be fun for a while, you never know. Maybe I'll even get to run into someone like Diaz, Barrymore, or Liu and then they can show me what it's all about being a Charlie's Angel.

See ya.

ooc: Hi! Ben is an OC in the Heroes fandom living in LA and hiding out from the Company. He's pretty friendly and open for rp. :)

Benjamin Cooper used to live by that code. Live life as if you don't know what's going to come tomorrow and enjoy what you have while you're young enough and have the means. Why not? As a young twenty-something, Ben believed that he had his whole world in front of him and nothing was going to screw that up. All of that changed the day he woke up in his townhouse and couldn't remember the past couple of days. At first, he just thought he was having some strange dream or had just woken up from one. The last place he remember going was to a bar not far from the campus he attended and had been hanging out with a group of friends. Of course, he'd had a couple beers and had some fun, but nothing that would have made him lose days at a time. There was also a strange mark on the back of his neck that he couldn't explain away. Like a tattoo, but not quite. Besides, who wants a tattoo of just two little lines anyway?

There was a forty-eight hour period that was missing and no one could tell him where he'd been during the entire time. And that's when the fires started.

First, it was just a stove fire that was easily put out by the fire department. The department called it a grease fire, but Ben had been making a pot of macaroni and cheese. That usually didn't call for the start of a fire that blew up in front of him but he happened to come out mostly unharmed. A couple weeks later, the entire townhouse went up in flames after Ben had been in an argument with his current girlfriend about where he'd been during those missing days. She didn't believe his story and accused him of running off with someone. Ben was furious and at one point slammed his fist into a wall. The next thing he knew, the room was on fire and the whole place ended up torched.

After that, Ben finally realized that it wasn't just some random or freak accident that caused the fires. Well, maybe freak was the right word. He'd caused them himself. He had no idea how or why but with a snap of a finger he could produce a flame in his own hand.

Ben could have sworn that, for a while, he felt someone watching him. He'd been staying in a hotel, but still hung out with his friends and tried to go on normally. When he was back in the same bar, there was a black man sitting across the room staring at him. Something clicked in Ben's mind and he realized that hadn't been the first time he'd seen the man there. He'd seen the guy the same night right before disappearing for two days.

Getting out of the place as fast as he could, Ben left the city and knew he couldn't go back. Maybe they'd find him again, but he was going to do whatever the hell he could to keep that from happening. Whoever "they" were. The only thing he had to go one was his new ability, the mark on his neck, the guy at the bar, and the image of a man in horn-rimmed glasses staring at him.

Ben doesn't live with the idea of not knowing what will happen to him at the end of the day anymore. He looks over his shoulder and sets his own course.
